چکیده

Abstract Background Shape memory polymers are materials that manufactured in a certain shape, can be stored temporary deformed and then return to – or remember their original shape upon exposure external stimuli such as temperature moisture. This property lends itself application endovascular medical devices. Peripheral vasculature embolisation devices incorporating this novel technology have become commercially available case series, where the data were collected part of post market registry, outlines initial clinical experience with these Results Eight cases described series. The disease state/conditions for which was indicated right common iliac artery aneurysms ( n = 3), type II endoleak into thoracic aorta following aneurysm repair 1), left inferior gluteal internal 2), splenomegaly, splenectomy planned after procedure 1). Target arteries 5–10 mm diameter. In each case, at least one IMPEDE Embolization Plug (IMP-Device) an appropriate diameter used. All procedures technically successful target vessel thrombosis achieved all cases. Follow-up imaging during 45–90-day collection timeframe showed sustained occlusion. series includes examples situations commonly encountered when embolising peripheral vasculature, namely, use multiple single combination other embolic (e.g., microcoils, gelatin sponge, PVA particles) same case. There no adverse events related specific device. Conclusions small illustrates safety efficacy sponge-based device medium sized further will demonstrate utility polymer

A Shape Memory Polymer with Improved Shape Recovery

Thermally actuated shape memory polymers (SMPs) interest, both academically and industrially, due to their ability to memorize a permanent shape that is set during processing and a temporary shape that is later programmed by manipulation above a critical temperature, either Tg or Tm. However, the thermal triggering process for SMPs is usually retarded compared to that of shape memory alloys, be...

An experimental investigation on the energy storage in a shape-memory-polymer system

In this paper, the effect of thermomechanical loading on the behavior of deflection-based harvested energies from a shape memory polymer system is experimentally investigated. Samples are created with honeycomb cells from poly-lactic acid using additive manufacturing techniques. The shape memory effect in shape recovery and force recovery paths are studied under thermomechanical tests in bendin...

Shape-Memory Polymer Composites

The development of shape-memory polymer composites (SMPCs) enables high recovery stress levels as well as novel functions such as electrical conductivity, magnetism, and biofunctionality. In this review chapter the substantial enhancement in mechanical properties of shape-memory polymers (SMPs) by incorporating small amounts of stiff fillers will be highlighted exemplarily for clay and polyhedr...

Clinical and denture-related characteristics in patients with epulis fissuratum: a retrospective 58 case series

Introduction: Epulis fissuratum is one of the important denture-related mucosal lesions that occurs around the borders of an ill-fitting denture. The purpose of this study was to analyze the cases of epulis fissuratum admitted in the department of oral medicine, Kerman Dental School in relation to the demographic, denture-related and clinical findings. Materials &Methods: Medical files of al...

Non-traumatic Causes of Brown-Sequard Syndrome: A Case Series and Clinical Update with Systematic Review.

Background: Brown-Sequard syndrome (BSS) is a rare neurological condition resulting from a hemisection injury to or unilateral compression on the spinal cord. The most common causes of BSS that are amenable to be treated surgically can be divided into traumatic and non-traumatic injuries. Traumatic injuries are often reported as the main cause of BSS. However, non-traumatic injuries of the spin...
